Legislative Action
The Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Action Committee reviews the upcoming federal, state and local legislation to make educated recommendations to the Chamber’s Board of Directors that will promote and foster business for our members.
The committee reviews pending legislation, debates opposing sides, seeks counsel from our local officials and finally, if required, will send a supporting or opposing letter to the legislative group voting on the issue.
As a member of the PACC, I would like to extend an invitation to you to “get involved”. The committee meets on the third Monday of every month at 3:30 in the Chamber office on Hwy 111. Deborah McGarrey - Committee Chairperson
This is an important arm of the Chambers function in the business community. In early 2009, the Chamber was honored to fly a delegation of members of the committee to Sacramento to receive the Presidents Award from the California Chamber of Commerce for its role in business compliance advocacy, and one month later, a delegation of 21 chamber members were flown to Washington D.C. to take part in the US Chamber Airlift to help show support of opposition of the Employee Free Choice Act. While there, members took in the sites and were given a personal tour of the Capitol from members of Congresswoman Bono's excellent staff and much more. – send interest to legislative chamber Rep via email
